Left for Grandma & Grandpa's at 4:30 today in a drizzling rain. All very excited about going. We drove in rain all the way. Pretty miserable driving. Kids & Kip were good travelers.

Drove kids to nursery school. Went to library, got groceries, got home & had to go & get Joni from school. She had a sore throat & didn't feel good. Had to fix dessert for Marian's bridge tonite. Jo Lewis & Pat Kirwin were there. Mary Kay & Mary Kramer subbed. I won high - bridge pencils.

We kinda goofed off today. Went uptown. Stopped at Tyler's. Got a gun for Todd. Came home. Had sandwiches. Later went over to Crow's to get some costumes ready for Beaux Art Ball. Went as Flintstones. Won a prize.

Blogger comment:
I remember this, Mom was Betty Rubble, Dad was Fred Flintstone, Flo Crow was Wilma Flintstone and Harold Crow was Barney Rubble. They all fit their roles so well! They made costumes out of burlap bags, went barefoot and Mom and Flo wore jewelry made from rocks and strips of leather. Mom always said that the necklace Dad made for her to wear had a big, heavy rock hanging from it and her neck hurt for several days afterwards but they had a lot of fun.

This morning I changed our sheets & put them back on. Cleaned the upstairs. Had lunch - got kids off to school. Took Jill & Jon to nursery school. Took Debbie over to Mother's for her nap. I came home - got cleaned up & went to visit Joni's class at school. I could sure tell the difference in her group from a year ago. Stopped at shopping center & got Jill a shirt to go with her purple pants. Went over to get Debbie. Stayed & had coffee. Then picked up Jill & Jon, Todd & Joni. Came home & finished cleaning. Scrubbed black marks off family room floor & kitchen.
Ron came home about 10:20. He rode home with Frank Miles. We were all ready to go get him. It is so good to have him home again. We sat & talked & talked & talked. He had a lot to tell about all the things he had done & places they had gone.

Today is the birthday of Ron.
Realized that Ron's drivers license would expire today while he's gone. Went over & picked up Todd & Joni - took her to Brownies, then went back & got Deb after her nap. Picked Joni up from Brownies and came home. Tried to call Ron about 5:30 to wish him a happy birthday. He wasn't in so we left the call to be tried an hour later. We had pizza & chocolate sundaes by candlelight to celebrate Daddy's birthday. About 6:30 the phone rang - thought it was our call to Ron. It was a collect call from Ron. He had called before the operator tried our call again. We were glad to talk to him. He was having a good time & I think we all felt better after we talked to him.

We were pretty busy this morning getting Ron ready to go to Chicago. He came home from work about 10:30 & got cleaned up to go. We left about 11:30, picked up Joni at school, then Bob Nelson & took them to the airport. They left about 12:15. It was awfully foggy. I hated to see him go.
Took kids to school - Jill & Jon to nursery school. Stopped uptown & over at Mother's. Came home & baked some applesauce loaf for Mom's coffee in the morning. Joni went to choir practice after school. When she came home we went to shopping center for supper, then took Mom's applesauce loaf over. We didn't stay too long, came home & got ready for bed. Todd cried because he wanted his daddy to come home. Finally settled down when he discovered he could order a 2 blade knife with 5 bubble gum wrappers & 35¢.
